How FaceCards actually works

Keep your flashcards.
Change how you control them.

FaceCards is a Windows controller. It watches only for the movements you calibrate, matches them to your Control Set, then sends normal keyboard or mouse input to the app you already study in.

01 / It sits between you and your study app

FaceCards does not replace your flashcards.

Keep using the flashcard website or desktop app you already know. FaceCards runs alongside it and turns deliberate eye, head, face and hand movements into the same inputs you would normally send with a keyboard or mouse.

Your camera is used for tracking on the device. FaceCards does not need to save your cards, read their contents or upload your camera frames to control them.

02 / Build a Control Set

Choose a movement.
Give it the exact input you want.

In Control Sets, pick a calibrated gesture and assign the keyboard key or shortcut your study app already understands. Space can reveal an answer, 1–5 can grade a card, an arrow can move on, and shortcuts such as Ctrl + Z can be captured as one action.

There are no hard-coded meanings. A head tilt, wink, smile or hand pose only does what you assign to it, and different Control Sets can have completely different mappings.

The example is only a mapping demo. FaceCards sends the keys you choose; it does not guess what a button in another app means.

YOUR PRACTICE DECK1 / 3

Which planet is known as the red planet?

The answer is one gesture away.

Ready when you are.

A click-through demo. No camera needed; your saved settings stay as they are.

03 / If there is no useful shortcut

Save a computer screen area.

On Windows, you can save a box over a control in the app you want to use. Assign a gesture to that saved area and FaceCards can click the centre of it when the gesture fires.

Screen Areas are tied to the computer layout and work best when the target app keeps the same layout. Phone and tablet Screen Areas are coming soon and are deliberately unavailable for now.

04 / Calibrate, start, study

Teach FaceCards your movements once, then use them hands-free.

Open FaceCards Desktop and complete calibration in your normal sitting position. The centre marker helps you return to neutral between movements, while calibration learns your camera direction and how far you naturally move.

Choose the Control Set you want, press Start FaceCards, then put your study app in focus. FaceCards watches for deliberate calibrated movements and sends the mapped input. Press Pause whenever you want it to stop.

Available now: FaceCards tracking, calibration, keyboard/mouse control and computer Screen Areas are available in the Windows desktop app. The website manages your account and Control Sets. Mac, iPhone, iPad and Android controllers are coming soon.
